Pondering Angels

We all need a little angelic help sometimes. Whether it's that moment we stopped at the crosswalk even though the light said go, and a car went speeding by the curb. Or when we drove through a snowstorm, barely making out the broken white line keeping us on track until we made it home. When life hands you sickness, disappointment, fear, and uncertainty, it’s nice to know we each have a few guardian angels.
Clarence is probably one of the most famous guardian angels. In It’s a Wonderful Life, he helps George Bailey realize what the world would have been like without him. And he sees that he really has made a difference. We each impact in small and big ways the lives of those around us. Most of the time, we never know.
In another Christmas movie standard, The Bishops Wife, Dudley, an angel, visits a family. What I find most compelling is that he touches everyone in the bishop’s life for good. In some way, he brings joy and light to the bishop’s wife, daughter, friend, secretary, cab driver, and the ornery lady the bishop first prays about.
My experience is angels surround us. So, as we pray for those guardian angels to be with us this season and all year, remember to be an angel for someone else. Thank you to my teachers, parents, friends, and family, who have been guardian angels to me!
